Big Splash, BBQ, Games, Races Coming Up: Annual Swimming Gala 7^th July 24 Hour Swim - 20^th / 21^st June Swimming Lessons – in August August Party Sunday Family Breakfast Swims Coming Soon…	Midsummer Night's Swim 2010 2012 News Water Balls Fun - Wed 22nd August  Very successful event with people coming from far and wide. Queues all day to have a go!!   10,200 lengths at the 24HR!! or 183 KMs or 108 Miles. What a brilliant achievement. Some 2000 more lengths than last year!!! And 103 people took part. Lots of Gold (Chocolate) Medals awarded to swimmers who entered our "Open Water Olympic Challenge" and swum 1K, 2K, 3K, 5K and even 10K distances. Thanks to all who supported the event, who came to swim even in the middle of the night and who helped in the Kiosk!!! Free swimming for 12-18s and Over 60s!! Some who have already signed up to our free season tickets This season we will be able to offer FREE swimming to all 12 to 18 year olds and over 60's who live in the three Parishes of Lazonby, KO and Gt Salkeld as part of a grant from the Health Lottery . The grant is to get more people swimming from the age groups that use the pool the least and who's health will most benefit. We will be putting on 2 more adult sessions and a weekly evening session for young people. We also may be able to extend evening opening hours on other days. The grant also covers lifeguard training for 4 local 16/17 yr olds. People wishing to sign up for season tickets need to come to the Pool with proof of age and address.  New Steps into Pool As part of above grant we have installed new easier access steps into the Pool!! No more climbing up steep rungs!! Lazonby Spring Craft & Shopping Fair Big thanks to all who came along to the Fair on 29th April. A grand total of £605 was raised on the day. Campaign to replace Heat Pump launched With the current heat pump nearing it's 30th birthday we have decided to look into buying a replacement to avoid having potential breakdowns next season. It would be a terrible loss to our village and local area if yet another community outdoor pool has to close for ever.   A new heat pump costs in the region of £15,000 and so we are launching a fundraising campaign for £7,500 to match funding we already have. We will be looking out for possible grant money but as well we would like to ask for your help in supporting various fundraising events we have planned for the next 6 months. So if you have any ideas or could help in any way then please get in touch. And watch this space for more info....... OPENING DAY!!! Thanks to everyone who came along on Sat 5th - we had a marvellous turnout and the weather wasn't too bad either. Even sunburn was reported!! Organised by Cycle Development North West two road races were run from Lazonby, one of 70 miles, the other of 50 miles. The pool facilities were used for registering, showers and teas and coffees before and after the race.  New season ticket for families with one child This year we have a new category of season ticket for families who have one child. The cost is £60.  Job Opportunities for 2010 We have the following vacancies for the season starting 1st May. Want to train as a lifeguard and work for us over the summer - take part in our lifeguard training in M 2009  News Bob Smith Swimming Gala We held our annual gala on 5th July. Some 50 swimmers entered the races and a great day was had by over 100 people. The trophy winners are in the picture to your right. Look out for the results in Lazonby Lines and The Herald. Award Announcement!! We have been named as 'Environmental Social Enterprise of the Year' by Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership. We are also runners up in the 'Existing Social Enterprise of the Year' category. See Herald article Saturday 2nd May - First Day Fun - we had an excellent day with lovely weather. Thank you to all who came, to those who baked us cakes and who helped on the day. Penrith Swimathon - 31st January 09. Joint teams with Lazonby School. Over £500 raised!!! Report available in Word or in PDF Grant award from O2  We have been awarded £750 to start work on upgrading the path leading to the campsite and the proposed Community Park. This is part of the O2 'It's Your Community' scheme BBC Film at the Pool On 23rd September the BBC came to film at the Pool for a programme on outdoor swimming to be aired next year in the Spring.
